Welcome to Penumbra,

If you managed to get here I suppose that you already know that Penumbra is a post-apocalyptic gothic role playing game… well the fact is that Penumbra is way more than that… in a lot of senses.

As the role playing game, the book that you will find in this web-site describe a decadent, brutal, devastated and merciless world in which humanity gathers around the very few still remaining natural resources of a polluted and toxic land. In most cases its inhabitants only hope it is simply to survive.

In Penumbra you will find a lot of social, cultural and technological inequalities, it is not hard to find human settlements that survive with the very few that they are able to collect or hunt, while others have huge industrial installations where its inhabitants enjoy of some quite uncommon commodities.

But… more than that… Penumbra is a young a growing world… a new and innovative setting in which to unfold your games. Sincerely there is no way in which I can describe this game in a few lines, and that’s why, maybe, the best you can do for getting started into penumbra is to take a look to the book itself… following this LINK.

While you can download the game without paying a penny for it, you should know that Penumbra is not free. This English version of the game you are reading now is the result of about one and a half years of work. When I started I never thought that completing a project like this was going to be so hard and complex. In the end, thanks to the help of a lot of really cooperative people that provided images, layout, proofreading or even this web site, you are able to read Penumbra book, all the people who took part in the development of the book is really proud of it.

But my idea is that I do not want to sell anyone anything that he does not like or that does not answer to their expectative so, you are free to download it, read it, test it, and if you like it and feel that it worth to pay for it, come back to this site and donate for it. The amount I am asking for the book is only 1.99€ (about 2.5 or 3$, don’t tell me that the book is an expensive one), but we use a donation system so you are free to pay for it whatever the amount you want to pay, if you feel is fair to pay less or more money than the amount I am asking feel free to do so.

In some sense this is like a personal betting, we have the opportunity to show editorials that if they charge for their digital content a reasonable prize, people would pay for it.

But before you leave, one more thing: Azahara Pintatel, that is a wonderful woman, besides allowing us to use some of their poems in the book, has uploaded one of them to YouTube, it is in Spanish but the result is so spectacular that even if you don’t understand a word is something that worth to be seen.
