Inventory We have made changes to the inventory system (previously it was just a container). The first change is the separation between your inventory and any containers you are holding. The new inventory looks like this: It's still a prototype, so we will improve the art and make it clearer which slot belongs to what location on the body. To open your inventory, press 'I' or right-click on your character and open via the drop-down menu. The inventory system has the following slots: Hair Hat Top Bottom Feet Backpack The clothing slots have multiple layers available, so you can wear a shirt underneath a jacket, or socks underneath your shoes. Hair is currently treated as an item until we improve the tech, but this at least allows players to customize their hair. Think about it like a wig, for now. The backpack (currently portrayed by a cardboard box) is a wearable storage container. We will eventually add other slots, for example, items in your hands, or accessories. This new system took a lot of work, but it enables us to remove and swap clothing items, which wasn't possible before. We have a ton of different clothes to experiment with, though they are just placeholder art and need improvements. Dyeing Machine Another of the biggest changes we've made is that players are now able to dye their clothes: Clothes can have up to 3 colors per item - if the item supports it. The example above is a top with 3 different fabrics enabled. You can choose to dye them all the same color, or you can change the colors - we have a palette of default colors to choose or you can use the advanced color wheel or HEX number for more creative control. Recycling We also have a recycling machine that can be used to delete items. This deletes objects permanently, so be careful about using it. In the future, the plan is that you will get refunded money or materials for the items that are recycled, but this isn't implemented right now. Furniture Another awesome addition is that furniture can be purchased and placed in the game world, and moved around! This includes walls - which means you can design the layout of your own apartment. It's currently very WIP and needs new art. The furniture system also supports layering! This means that you can walk behind furniture - and you can place items on top of furniture! This is still a work-in-progress system, so it doesn't always look right, but we'll iterate in the future. Admin Tools There have been numerous other fixes that help developers. For example, the ability to lock items in place (the yellow lines indicate locked items) means that players won't be able to move them. We wouldn't want players moving doors or walls without building permissions, after all. We will add permissions for players to lock down furniture in their own apartments in the future. The red boxes are a new addition as well - they allow developers to place and edit exits between rooms with a visual editor, rather than typing commands. Map We also have the addition of a map! This shows the rooms of the area that you're in, as well as their connections. It should make it easier to navigate, but is also really useful for building. Final Thoughts There has been a lot of other work going on behind the scenes, like the development of a scripting system that will allow developers to create even more content. But we're now ready to do some player testing for all these new features! If you're interested in being a playtester, come join our Discord and ask how to get started: That's all for now! Stay tuned for more updates and cool features. Thanks! Stardust

We have been busy making a number of new improvements to the game. Feedback is welcome! Change Your Appearance Players now have the ability to set their own appearance. Type 'help' to see all the commands. You must be standing in the Cryopods room to use this feature. You can change your gender, skin color, hair color, hair style, shirt color and pants color. Vending Machines We've updated the cafeteria with two vending machines: Food - has extra items available now Books - buy empty books to write in, as well as some published stories Right click on the base of the vending machine to use (we will update it later). Purchases will provide a confirmation message and deduct credits. We don't have any mechanics to add credits, but if you run out and need supplies, let an admin know - or ask one of your fellow players. Write a Book One of the books for purchase in the new vending machine is an empty one that you can write in - it's as easy to use as writing in notepad. The notes are saved, however please keep in mind that all data is reset when we do a new release, while we're in beta - so you may like to save a copy of your writing elsewhere until we've implemented a proper save system. Light Switches Players can now affect the lighting of a room. The commands to use are: lights on lights off lights flickering Please be considerate of others when using this command. AFK and IDLE status If you type AFK, you'll get an AFK moodlet above your head. You'll also have AFK shown beside your name in the WHO list. It will also be automatically applied to any player who is idle for more than 10 minutes. Moving your character or sending a text message will cancel the AFK status. More Moodlets We've added more moodlet types for when you talk with an exclamation point (!), ask a question (?), or use an interrobang (?!). More to come for further actions in the future. Narrate Command Previously known as echo, we've changed the command name to 'narrate'. The main purpose is for environmental emotes. Please don't power-game when using this command, we are trusting players to use it to enhance the roleplay experience of other players. Discord Bot We've added an integration with discord that sends message to the game-notifications channel to people know when players connect to the game, or call for help. It's a one-way read-only channel - you'll need to connect to the game to answer players. AdminTeleport This allows our admin to teleport to any room in an instant. No More Doppelgangers Old connections will be disconnected, when a player reconnects to the game. Graphical Update In a little experiment to make the map feel more alive, avatars now move slightly on the spot. That's all for this week! Please test out the game and let us know what you think - your feedback is appreciated! Thanks! Stardust

CHANGE NOTES: Character Creation - Character names are always capitalized now. - Character names can now only contain letters. - Newbie tips appear on character creation. - Players now start with the palest skin (instead of the greyscale skin). Players will be able to set their own appearance in the next release. Food & Drinks - Added a vending machine that allows players to get food (only one type, for now, we also need to update the art asset - for now it's overlayed on the fridge in the cafeteria). - Food and drinks now disappear when consumed. - Other players can see when you consume food/drinks. - Add nutrition information to the description of items instead. Graphical Improvements - Players now disappear on disconnect (no more offline people crowding the rooms) - Fixed graphical glitches related to zooming in and out of the map. - Speech bubbles are no longer black and have been made white again. General Improvements - Rooms have been renamed to have proper IC names rather than our silly dev names. - Players are notified when another player arrives in or leaves a room. - Type 'i' or 'inv' in the text window to pop your inventory open. Updated Admin Commands - Ability for admin to rename players. - Ability for admin to set passwords. - Admins now have the player to move players. A note about your characters: While we're in Beta, characters will need to be recreated whenever we release a new version. We are constantly changing the character design (new hair options, new skin options, etc) and not ready to lock it down to be saved, but once we have pinned down our design, we can save them automatically.
